Indian designer wear industry
Global fashion houses seem to be rushing to India. The fashion market in India is attracting the attention of investors from Mauritius, Singapore, Dubai, France and the US. Some overseas fund-houses have expressed interest in investing huge sums in this segment. Few of them have even initiated discussions with the top industry designers for a possible joint venture or buy-out of their labels.
Indian fashion is increasingly gaining currency the world over, especially, in the Middle East. For the global fashion industry, India is a very big exporter of fabrics and accessories. All over the world, Indian ethnic designs and material are considered as a significant facet for the fashion wear. Indian garments play a vital role as one of the biggest players in the international fashion arena. India now accounts for just 0.2% of the international industry’s net worth. Currently, the global designerwear market is worth about Rs 1,62,900 crore, growing at 9.5% every year.
India’s fashion heritage is rich in tradition, vibrant in colors and prepossessing. Bold colors created by the inventive drapes of these textiles catches the imagination like no other contemporary clothing.
