Well I love giving gifts and I believe that no matter who it is , you should gift someone with the right gift. By right I mean something which the person can use.

Choosing a gift for a colleague or co-worker is totally different when it comes to India and US. If you work in a small company where everyone knows everyone then you get to be close to the people you work with and pretty much know what they like and don’t like.

When choosing a gift for a colleague, my best advise to you is not to make it a personal gift. A nice desk clock or a pen and pencil set is quite appropriate. There may be others that you work with that you have become good friends with but remember these gifts will be given at work. A few other ideas I can think of are coffee mugs with their names on them. Inside you can put flowers, flavored coffee packets, candy or whatever the person might like. A nice pen set is something one can never have too many of and is another good choice. If you know their musical taste a CD/DVD can be a good gift. Or Temperature resistant lunchbox, Photo frame/album, Perfume/Deodorant, Cell phone accessories, Wallet/Purse, Tie/Belts etc.
