The offbeat actress Nandita Das who has proved herself in the bollywood industry is the person with subtle acting skills. But this time she is playing a different role. Its not the reel role of an actress in some film, but the real role of directing a film. She has completed shooting for her first directorial project, “Firaaq…In Such Times” which is being produced by Percept Pictures. This film stresses the fact of how lives of people are affected by violence. Though she is ready with her directorial debut, she has no plan to direct another film in the recent future. She said that she has been completely consumed by her filmmaking process. The film is in conversational language. The film is starring some theatre actors like Shahana Goswami. Other actors of this film are Naseeruddin Shah, Raghuvir Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Deepti Naval and Tisca Arora. Her powerful roles and performances in films like ‘Fire’, ‘Bawander’, ‘1947 Earth’ and ‘Maati Maay’ prove her mature acting skills. Ravi Chandran did the cinematography. In this film Nandita has got the chance to work with new talents like editor Shekhar Prasad and music composer Rajat Dholakia. She is even keen on sending this small non-commercial film to the festivals. She wrote her film in collaboration with Suchi Kothari and it will be worth watching.
