Hindi movie Saawariya
Sanjay Leela Bansali is back with his extensive sets design in HINDI MOVIE – SAAWARIYA and even if you are not fond of him, you cannot just shut your eyes to his style and technique of filming. If you look at Saawarya and from a bird’s eye view, the dream world of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s looks like a vague cubist painting, with houses in hues of blue and green. A world which does not see the sun shining, this film disappoints in its initial approach.
It is a film that is based on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s short story ‘White Nights’, ‘Saawariya’ is like a dark and surreal fable that enchants you with its visual beauty, but doesn’t touch you where it matters the most – heart. It lacks a soul.
Cinematographically it is an excellent Hindi movie and the lavish sets keep you in awe. Ravi K Chandran has done the cinematography while Omung Kumar’s has done the art direction. The sound design has also been excellent and Monty has done an excellent job. This tender tale has been set in a different world and it is like a fairy tale with Indians in it. It feels as if you are visiting the ever-popular game ‘Prince Of Persia’, only as Indians. For a film student, this film scores high because of the form it has and the colors and stylistics it has used but for the cinema audience in general, this has failed to score much of a point because of the lack of a proper story line.
