Is modelling for me
Many aspiring models see the world of modeling with a starry-eyed idealism, admiration, hopefulness, but with many misconceptions. Although a glamorous profession, the job of a model is strenuous, requiring far more work and discipline than first supposed.
For decades, hot-bods ad sexy sirens have sizzled the ramp. Be it Rita Faria, Zeenat Aman, Persis Khambata, Madhu Sapre, Sushmita Sen, Celina Jaitley, Lara Duta or Priyanka Chaopra, all these ladies have taken us by awe. They have invaded this territory with confidence and without a godfather, and grown from a nascent stage to become stalwarts of the fashion industry. But what lies hidden from us is the amount of stress and toil that lies behind the gloss and candyfloss.
Every day hundreds of aspiring models are getting ready to make it big in life. But they are unaware of the fact that this is a place of no return. The moment you look back, you make yourself ready to join the brigade that laments the names of Nafeesa Joesph, Divya Bharati and Jessica Lal. They met a sad end either being unable to cope the work pressure, competition or by falling prey to nasty rackets. The recent incident that saw one time super model Gitanjali Nagpal begging for money on the Delhi streets after being dumped by her British boyfriend, leaves no space to doubt the deadening effect one can have if faced by failure.
Make sure you are mentally prepared to work long nights and get used to the fact that you may be traveling and will become lonely. There will be times where you won’t see your family for months at a time. More modeling tips to remember is that while traveling always respect the different cultures around you. So if you think modeling is your cup of tea, be prepared for all the odds coming your way. The business side of being a female model requires savvy. They must make smart business decisions to ensure continued success. One offer for a shoot may be very lucrative, but might compromise their personal moral standards. If her personal objection costs her the job, she will most likely benefit later with continued success, rather than a “scandalous” picture surfacing later to haunt her. ![]()
