Robin Williams, the Hollywood actor and comedian has won some six Golden Globe awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and also a winner of Academy Award. Robin was born on 21st July in Chicago, Illinois. Robin appears in television, stage as well as in films. Robin had his big break when he played Mork from Ork, in ‘Happy Days’ and ‘Mork & Mindy’, the famous television series and soon he joined films. He starred in ‘Popeye’ in1980 and ‘The World According to Garp’ in1982 were both flops. His movie ‘Good Morning, Vietnam’ in 1987 gave him his first Academy Award nomination, this film established him as a prominent actor of Hollywood.

Robin has given his voice for Genie in the animated version of the ‘Aladdin’. He has also given his voice for ‘Artificial Intelligence A.I’ , ‘Robots’ , the Academy Award winning ‘Happy Feet’ and ‘Everyone’s Hero’. His pathos tinged comic performance was seen in ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ and ‘What Dreams May Come’. He won Academy Award nomination for playing an inspiring unorthodox English teacher in ‘Dead Poets Society’ in 1989 and also for ‘The Fisher King’ in 1991, where he played a homeless troubled man. His other dramatic films include ‘Awakenings’ in 1990, ‘Hook’ , ‘Good Will Hunting’ for which he won the Academy Award for the best supporting role. His portrayal of an obsessive film developer in ‘Insomnia’ and a writer in ‘The Final Cut’, ‘The Night Listener’ and many more proved his versatility. Robin Williams is the celebrity spokesperson of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
